We are excited to share the success of our recent Heroes Without Capes event! Held on April 29th, 2024, this special gathering brought together our community to honor the everyday heroes who make a significant impact on the lives of children in Southern Arizona. The evening was filled with inspiring stories, heartfelt moments, and a strong sense of community spirit. We recognized outstanding volunteers, dedicated staff, and generous donors whose unwavering support enables us to continue our mission. One of the many highlights included a keynote speech from our VOICES council, who shared powerful insights on the importance of our work, and a moving testimonials of how they were positively impacted by the CACSOAZ. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a memorable celebration. Your support and dedication truly make a difference, and we are grateful to have such an incredible community standing with us. Together, we can continue to be the heroes that children and families need. Stay tuned for more updates and ways to get involved with CACSOAZ!

At the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona (CACSOAZ), we are deeply grateful to the Centurions for their incredible support in last year’s Holiday Toy Drive. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to bring joy and comfort to countless children and families during the holiday season.

The 2023 Holiday Toy Drive was a heartwarming success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and contributions from organizations like the Centurions. Their dedication to improving the lives of children in our community is truly inspiring, and we are honored to partner with them in this important work.

As we approach the 2024 Holiday Toy Drive, we look forward to their continued support in making this year’s drive just as impactful. Together, we can make the holiday season a little brighter for the children and families we serve.

Since October of 2022, the Children’s Advocacy Center has held the film rights to show the “Resilience” film documentary to organizations within Arizona. As of August of this year, we have shown the film to nearly 900 Arizonians across twenty-eight different showings. The “Resilience” film documents the birth of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) movement and the long-term negative effects of childhood trauma. The magic of the film is in how it then highlights various programs around the U.S. that are combatting these long-term negative effects through building more resilient children, families, and communities.

The film is as inspiring as it is a call to action. Resilience takes a community – all of us, across sectors, all of us are needed to make a lasting difference for the children in our lives and neighborhoods.

We have decided to bring the film to a larger community audience by hosting a special showing at the Loft Cinema this September 17th from 1-4pm. The Celebration of Resilience event, as we are calling it, will feature not only the film and a guided debrief session immediately following, but also live performances by Tucson Student Ministries and tabling by local organizations already at work in resilience building in our communities. This is an opportunity for you to come and see and learn and experience – and ultimately, get involved. Find your place, your contribution, to being a part of the movement to end Adverse Childhood Experiences, strengthen families, and create a more resilient Tucson, Pima County, Arizona – and beyond.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona held our annual Hope and Healing for the Holidays Toy Drive this past holiday season, to record breaking numbers.

Courtesy of our friends at Republic Services, we had more than 40 locations displaying our Toy Drive boxes, and with the help of numerous cash donors, and radio and television advertising, a two hour radiothon on The Drive and The Groove radio stations explaining what the Children’s Advocacy Center does and who we help, we raised thousands of dollars in that time span.

The faces of the children that have needed our help lit up when they came to our “Toy Shop”  with a family member and had fun picking out toys, clothing and personal items to help make their Christmas one to remember. Special shout out to Jesse Lugo Charities and his Bikes in a Box campaign, they generously donated 35 new bikes to our toy drive.

We thank all the businesses, donors, workers and volunteers, who cared enough to help make our Hope and Healing for the Holidays the best yet.
